Every key the window listens for is in one list, which is what this page is. Keys are written with ⌘ (Ctrl on Linux and Windows): ⌘T is Ctrl+T, and ⇧⌘D is Ctrl+Shift+D.
| Keys | What it does | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
| ⌘K | Opens the palette, the same thing as Search in the sidebar | anywhere |
| ⌘T | Opens a new terminal | anywhere |
| ⌘N | Opens a new chat | anywhere |
| ⌘P | Switches project | anywhere |
| ⌘, | Opens Settings | anywhere |
| ⇧⌘D | Splits the terminal pane to the right | while a terminal has focus |
| ⇧⌘E | Splits the terminal pane downwards | while a terminal has focus |
| ⇧⌘F | Turns focus mode on or off | with a project open, once Focus mode is on in Settings → General. See Focus mode |
| ⇧⌘N | Goes to what needs you | anywhere |
⇧⌘N walks your unread notifications in the order somebody between five agents wants them: an agent waiting for an answer first, then a step with no undo that was set off, then a run that ended. See Notifications.
Splitting is handled by the terminal being split rather than by the window, which is why those two keys only answer while a terminal has focus.
A key of your own, from anywhere
Every key above works while devpit's window has the keyboard. One more can bring devpit forward from any other app: Settings → General → Shortcut, under On this desktop. Choose, then press the keys — Escape stops — and Clear takes it away. It has none until you choose one, and it must hold a modifier: a single bare key would take that key from every app.
Keys that belong to one place
- Escape leaves the palette, Settings, the Manager, and the sheets that open over the window. A menu or a dialog that is already open takes it first.
- Escape twice in a chat, the second press within two seconds, stops the turn that is running. The first press only arms it, because Escape is also the key you press to dismiss things, and one that throws away two minutes of work is one you stop trusting.
- ⇧⌘A in a chat's composer opens the system's file picker, to attach files. See Chat.
- On a focused card tile: Enter opens it, F2 renames it, ⌘M moves it to another lane, and Delete archives it. Its menu prints the same keys beside each entry.
- F2 on a focused file in the tree, or a focused session, renames it.
- ⌘F in the browser pane opens Find in page, but only while focus is in devpit's own bar: the page itself cannot pass the key on. The Find in page button works either way. See The browser pane.
There is no key for the board. On Linux it would be Ctrl+B, which is the tmux prefix in every terminal pane, and a window that took it would break tmux for the people using it.
